A little about me...
Hello! My name is Kelly Connolly and I am so delighted to be starting my 14th year of teaching in the 2023-2024 school year. I am a native Portlander, and grew up in Portland Public Schools, attending Woodstock Elementary, Kellogg Middle School, and Franklin High School. Knowing I wanted to be a teacher since the 3rd-grade, after high school, I enrolled in the education program at Warner Pacific College. Upon graduating, I was hired at Harrison Park School, teaching kindergarten and the following school year, first-grade. After that, I got my dream job teaching 5th grade right here at Glencoe Elementary. During my first year at Glencoe, I graduated from Concordia University earning my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. And 14 years later, I still consider teaching my passion. Another passion of mine is my family. My husband, Patrick, is also a teacher, teaching high school science. Together we have a silly and spirited 4 year old boy named Ira and a smiley 6 month old named Hazel. Together we spend most of our time in the great outdoors, gardening, snowshoeing, paddleboarding, and camping. Thanks for learning a bit about me. I look forward to getting to know each of you this fall!
Three fun facts about me: I was a radio DJ for a Native American reservation for a day. I talk and walk in my sleep regularly. I was a Rose Festival Princess, representing Franklin High School.
Nine summers ago I got married, and enjoyed a wonderful trip on the island of Kaua'i!
Thanks to my wonderful 5th graders and 5th grade families of 2014, my husband and I got to enjoy an exciting zipline excursion during our honeymoon in Kaua'i! Thanks 5th grade families--you gave us a memory that will last for years to come! Here are some pictures....
